KEMEX contracted our services to carry out the engineering for a steel silo, and possibly another one in the future, for the storage of 1,000 tonnes of ash, and a 40 m³ buffer hopper in Morocco, including civil engineering, calculations and drawings for the support structures and drawings for the silo, in both cases with fabrication drawings.
The new silo has a useful capacity of approximately 1,435 m³ and is supported by a steel structure consisting of eight braced pillars, which support two lower maintenance platforms. The silo has a cylindrical section 12 metres in diameter and 13 metres high, with a conical roof with a 7° slope. At the base of the silo, there is a cone with a 55° inclination. The silo and structure have a stair tower that provides access to the different platforms and the silo roof at level +38. To lay the foundation for the silo, a rectangular concrete slab measuring 14.1 x 28.2 metres was poured, with a cantilever to support the staircase.
We also carried out the design engineering of the rack for the ash pipe to the cement mill.
